Frequently asked questions
Windows says “Windows protected your PC”
This is the SmartScreen warning shown for recent apps that few people have installed yet. Click More info, check that the publisher shown is LibDic, then Run anyway. The warning goes away as more people install LibDic.
How do I dictate?
Put the cursor where you want to write, hold right Ctrl (right Option on a Mac), speak, let go: just one key. A short press switches to hands-free; Esc cancels. Prefer two keys? Alt + Space (Windows), Option + Space (macOS), Ctrl + Space (Linux, and the only option on Wayland). You can change all of this in the settings.
Do I need an account?
Not to dictate on your computer: the Free plan gives you 1,000 words a week, with no account. An account is for paid plans and AI formatting in the cloud.
Is LibDic always listening?
No. The microphone only opens while you dictate. If you turn on the single key, LibDic listens to the keyboard to recognise that key, without ever recording what you type.
Are my dictations sent anywhere?
It depends on the mode: see what leaves your computer. In Private mode, nothing leaves.
Can I pay with mobile money?
Yes, in covered countries: Orange Money, MTN MoMo, Wave, M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Moov. You pay for the year and confirm on your phone; nothing is charged automatically. A reminder arrives before it ends.
Does LibDic write without any mistakes?
No, no voice dictation is 100% accurate. Accuracy depends on the language, the way you speak, the noise around you and, in Private mode, your computer. Always reread your text before sending it. For proper names and rare words, add them to your vocabulary: LibDic will write them correctly.
What does “lifetime” mean?
The exact terms of the lifetime license are being finalised.
